The spiral shape in which the leaves are rolled is what gives it its name in Chinese, being also called "Black Snail" in English.
It alternates leaves of light and dark ochre colors, typical of Chinese black tea from Fujian. This rounds out its flavor, which is of a medium intensity and very pleasant to the taste.
The infusion of this black tea is a dark amber color. It has a dense smoky aroma and flavor that leaves a pleasant and long-lasting aftertaste.
Although not a high-grade black tea variety, Hong Luo is a very popular tea in China.
